Lolly arrived safely and in time to see Matt tonight.
We met with Dr. Cohen and got the details on Matt's chemotherapy and signed the consent. He was pretty upbeat about Matt's prognosis and the possibility that we might be able to return to New Orleans to finish chemo.
The following can be read with the understanding that "no cry Wednesday" is almost over:
I had to tell Matt what's wrong with him tonight. He wrote (he can't talk) that he is scared. We took a while talking about his treatment and we prayed with him and he is feeling better. It's a lot to absorb, especially since he has been "asleep" for the past week.
Matt wrote out some messages:
To Lolly: "Tell those kids I'm fine"
To Jim : "Keep praying"
He also wrote "Bless you Boys" and "Go Blues" (this one is for Chelsea, his favorite English soccer team)
When we were getting ready to leave, he held Lolly's hand for a long time.
I just called his nurse to check on him and the nurse told me that Matt is doing fine and listening to his I pod.
We're more hopeful than ever.

Matt,
ReplyDeleteYou are a Child of God, and that alone is priceless. You are in His hands, your shelter in time of storm.
John and Noel,
God brought you to JH for a reason, there's someone there that needed to be touched by your presence as it certainly sounds like you have brought heaven to earth for those you have come into contact with there. You two are a wonderful Godly image of what I truly believe parents are ... the unselfish love and sacrafices you have made for your children. You may never know who has been blessed by your being where you are and where you have been, but I truly believe in my heart that you certainly have. Knowing your family has certainly been a blessing to Melanie and me, and we look forward to your coming home!
