Matt spent the night in the ICU because he is going to have the cardiac MRI this morning. He is sedated because of the breathing tube. It is very difficult to see him this way, please pray for us and him. Visiting hours in the ICU are very limited to only 12 to 2 and 5 to 8 but there's not much we can do when we visit because he is so sedated.
I think that we're going to be on the program that I described yesterday with the MRI today and a biopsy on the lumbar growth tomorrow. We got to see some of the MRI imaging with the ICU Doc and there is a large (~ 6 cm) growth near the bottom of his spine and there is some sort of abnormality in his brain where the cranial nerves exit. These seem to explain his symptoms and now it is a matter of finding out what these things are and how to treat them. This is why we came here - to have access to the best doctors available.
It's going to be a hard few days coming up so please keep us in your prayers and thoughts. We'll keep you up to date as much as possible.
Thanks to Lizzy for the re-design of the Blog. Look at the bottom of the page for pictures.

I am praying and have asked everyone I know to pray for Matt. I think he's where he needs to be right now and I praythat this is the beginning of his recovery. I admire Matt so much-he is my hero. By the way, I love the beard!-Kathy Lafitte
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine how difficult the next few days are going to be for you guys; but, hopefully, it helps just knowing that all this is bringing you closer to finding out what's going on and what the cure is. I also hope that there's comfort in knowing that there are sooooo many people praying for all of you. We send our love and a side bar to John - Rich said to tell you that they missed you yesterday!
