Field Trip

Today, I left the hospital for a little while to run two quick errands. While I was gone, PT came and let Matt know they needed to get him out of the bed. He wrote them, "If I have to get up, I want to go outside." So, I get a call from nurse Sharon asking if I had any warm clothes here for Matt. I told her I was on my way back and they could just wrap him in the SAINTS blanket. (Thanks KT) When I got back I was almost crying when I saw him bundled up and sitting in his wheelchair in the hospital courtyard. It made me so happy! The only reason I didn't cry, It is No Cry Wednesday!

The respiratory therapist came in this morning and suggested a treatment for Matt to help with the pneumonia. The doctors agreed that it could help. Matt had his first treatment after his field trip. It did seem to loosen up some of the mucus.

I am thanking God for these things today and praying for more good news after tomorrow's MRI.

  1. Hello,
its great to see Matt up and outside. He looks better. Praying for the progress to continue. Hopefully he can begin to get out a bit more. That is a good sign that he wanted to go outside. I am sure this made him feel better. Tell Matt we are awaiting to see who our first opponets will be in the playoffs. We know the saints have had some set backs but we are very optimistic we are going to the superbowl. Go SAINTS

  2. That AWESOME! Matt has such an amazing spirit and I'm glad he is taking an active role in his treatment, making sure his spirit gets what it needs (like time outside) as much as his body gets what it needs. YAY! And no, i'm not tearing up on no cry Wednesday. Of course not. My eyes always look that watery. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

  5. It was not long ago that I mentioned to George this very thing....Matt needs to get outside. We remember all too well how George longed to be outside and that was just a little over a week in the hospital. Congratulations Matthew....what bargaining power! LOL.
I hope you know how much we are praying for you.
    Love, Gina
