Matt had a rough day and night yesterday and last night. Noel stayed with him last night and he woke up coughing about every hour. Noel is sleeping at home tonight and I am having a sleepover with Matt tonight. Today has been a little better on the coughing front with the "coughing fits" coming less often and being less severe. We're hoping for a quiet night tonight.
The doctors say that his lungs sound better today so his pneumonia is getting better. He also did not need blood or platelets today. This is the time in the chemo cycle when he should be improving so it makes sense that he did not need blood products today.
Thanks to my wonderful mother for staying with Matt all day and allowing Noel and I a little time to relax and get a few things done. We saw a great movie called "The Blind Side" which you should try to see if you can.
One story to show that Matt's sense of humor is still alive and kicking...
One of Matt's nurses, Sharon, is a big University of Alabama fan. She has been trying to get him to give her a "Roll Tide" for a while (especially since Alabama is playing for the national championship). Matt has consistently refused, saying "As long as Nick Saban is there, you'll never hear Roll Tide from me." This evening, he wrote something on his board for Sharon....
Hi Matthew and Bertucci family! We are doing fine here in Nashville and miss our friends there. We think of you all often so now I have a way of staying in touch. Mary has kept me posted and I want you to know that we are praying and believing God for miracles.
