Matt has 2 conditions that landed him in PICU: sepsis (an infection of the blood) and pneumonia (again.
The origin of these is unknown but we are in a hospital full of germs and he does have a compromised immune system. Anyway, his condition was very serious early this morning but quick and decisive action by the team on 4 west got Matt the care he needed. He is responding well to the treatments (seems like he's getting one of every antibiotic in the pharmacy).
He is going to be in PICU at least until Wednesday when they are going to do a bronchoscope (this is a camera inserted into his lungs) to look and take samples. They can do the procedure here in his PICU room so that is one reason they are leaving him here. My guess (hope??) is that if is he continues to improve, they will send him back to 4 west on Wed or Thur.
He has mad a lot of progress today thanks to great care and your prayers. Thanks, and please continue to pray.
