Tubing change day

It is Trach change Tuesday here in Baltimore. Matt of course has taken it a step further. He has had his trach changed, his dressing for his central line changed, his wound dressing reinforced and his catheter changed. While having his trach changed Matt scratched an itch on his belly. This itch was around the suture of the j-tube. The suture came loose and the tube came out a little. This caused concern so they postponed his feedings until they could get an x-ray with contrast to check the current placement. Preliminary reports show that everything looks good, but we are waiting on a radiologist to read it and give a final report.

The doctors have been by and said that Matt's hemoglobin count was down, therefore they will give him blood later today. Matt just finished working with the physical and occupational therepists today. He did a wonderful job. They were surprised at how much he wanted to do for himself. They did get him to sit up on the side of the bed again which mom took a picture of. They even got him to stand for a minute. This made mom cry, Raise your hand if this surprises you!

With such a busy morning Matt has decided to get a little rest. We are hoping that the staff here will cooperate.
