An update from yesterday, Matt was seen yesterday for an evaluation from the speech therapy department. They will take the information they got and come up with a plan of action. Today, the speech pathologist came in to do some thermal-tachtal stimulation for his swallow reflex. She said his voicing seemed stronger today and that one thing which may help would be to get a smaller trach.
Today, Matt worked with physical and occupational therapy. Holly and Francesca sat him up in a padded wheel chair today. To get to the chair, they also had to stand him up using his new braces and shoes. They even let him play some on his computer while in the wheel chair.
The doctors came in and said that Matt's blood counts are coming up. The attending physician wrote Matt a note that said "White blood cells recovering! A few more days of antibiotics. Next chemo end of next week. Until then Rehab, Rehab, Rehab."
He asked Matt if he had any questions, Matt shook his head No!
Matt is looking forward to seeing Andrew on Saturday morning. Although that is also when Nana leaves. He will greatly miss his Nana!
